AI科技浪潮強勢籠罩人類全方位的生活,藝術文化如何與科技結合敘事?《科藝福爾摩沙》匯集臺灣優秀的新媒體藝術家與科技藝術創新者,攜手將科技轉化為文化藝術的敘事載具;本展精選18件作品,從數位視覺藝術、互動裝置到VR虛擬實境的創作;主題涵蓋臺灣在地文化、全球連結關係及對未來的憧憬與想像。藝術家深入探究自身所處的環境、生命的經歷,運用數位科技賦予新意涵,創造出新的觀點與對話。

這18件作品包括:首度發表的《想嚮》,透過融合舞蹈和高科技的互動藝術表現形式,探索全球衝突對個體和集體意識的影響,由由黃心健、張文杰、蔣榮宗和張逸軍共同創作;5G應用整合測試實驗室的數位轉譯新作《花獻臺灣》,提供不受時空限制的臺灣賞花體驗;馬祖的淒美故事《藍眼淚》、AI的臺灣印象《雜訊地景》、客家先民渡台開墾史轉化成星際拓荒的科幻奇譚《艾索羅夫星球紀事》和《艾索羅夫星人展》、以360VR影片記錄台北燈會光雕動態秀、民國50年代屏東五溝水地區的《浮光童夢》、客家傳統文化習俗《米龍360》、戰火歲月的記憶《地下碼頭》、探討臺灣民俗信仰與精神世界的《失身記》、女性困境掙扎的《我的阿婆是一顆蛋》,再現前輩膠彩藝術家郭雪湖美學精神的《望鄉三態》、水墨畫古今融合《AI印象派:動靜山水》、以及穿越時空的東西方時尚對話《CiCi與ViVi的對話》、反思人類與地球關係的《輪迴》、過往記憶的自我觀照《沙中房間》和化身太空人體驗的《登月》。

透過藝術家對臺灣文化獨特視角的觀察,《科藝福爾摩沙》展現了臺灣科技與藝術融合的傲人成績,以創新的姿態持續在全球舞台上綻放,猶如福爾摩沙的繁花璀璨,散發著獨特的光芒。

Curatorial Statement

Amidst the powerful surge of AI technology enveloping every aspect of human life, how can art and culture merge with technology to tell stories? “BLOSSOMING: the Tech-Art in Formosa” brings together Taiwan’s outstanding new media artists and tech-art innovators, collaborating to transform technology into a narrative medium for culture and art. This exhibition features 18 cherrypicked works, ranging from digital visual art and interactive installations to VR works. The themes encompass local cultures of Taiwan, global connections, as well as visions and imaginations of the future. The artists delve in their own circumstances and life experiences, utilize digital technology to imbue the works with new meanings, and creating new perspectives and dialogues.

The 18 works include: the debut piece “Imagine,” which explores the impact of global conflicts on individual and collective consciousness through an interactive art form that combines dance and advanced technology, produced by Hsin-Chien Huang, Wen-Chieh Chang, Zong Chiang, and Billy Chang; “Ilha Formosa,” a new digital translation work designed by 5G Usability Test Lab, offering flower viewing experiences in Taiwan without limitations in time and space; “Blue Tears,” a poignant story of Matsu; “Noise Landscape” that embodies AI’s impressions of Taiwan; “A Tale of Asomrof” and “Asomrof in Bacta Tank” the sci-fi saga of interstellar pioneers converted from the Hakka pioneers’ history of settlement in Taiwan; “Taipei NEXT!” in the Future Exhibition Area and “Taipei 101 Shining Dreams”; “Childhood Revisited,” depicting Wugoushui region in Pingtung during the 1960s; “Rice Dragon 360” on the traditional Hakka cultural practices; “The Underground Haven” for the memories of wartime; “Bodyless” that explores Taiwanese folk religion and spiritual world; “My Grandmother Is an Egg” involving the struggles and predicaments of women; “Kuo Hsueh-Hu: Three States of Home Gazing” that represents the aesthetic spirit of predecessor Eastern Gouache artist Kuo Hsueh-Hu; “AI Impressionism: Dynamic and Still Landscapes” that fuses ancient and modern ink wash paintings; “The Dialogue Between CiCi & ViVi” for the dialogue on fashion between the East and the West across time and space; “Samsara” that reflects on the relationship between humanity and Earth; “La Camera Insabbiata” for the self-reflection with past recollections; and “To the Moon” for the astronaut experience.

Through the unique perspective of artists on Taiwanese culture, “BLOSSOMING: the Tech-Art in Formosa” showcases the remarkable achievements of Taiwan in integrating technology and art. With an innovative approach, it continues to flourish on the global stage, much like the resplendent blossoms of Formosa, radiating its distinctive brilliance.  

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the Virtual and Physical Media Integration Association of Taiwan (VPAT) invite everyone to relish how Taiwanese artists, amidst the wave of technology, integrate culture and art with technology to craft all-new approaches to narratives that transcend time and space. This exhibition interprets the abundant aesthetic imagination of the contemporary Formosa, showcasing the brilliant synergy of art and technology in Formosa!
